When Sylvia and her husband Patrick held their adoptive son, Alex, in their arms – it was the first time adoption changed their lives.

The second time was when they learned of Alex’s medical condition. With joy in their hearts and trepidation in the process, the Baize’s and their three biological children embarked on the adoption journey. Together, they learned new medical jargon, attended surgical appointments and late-night ER visits – bonding their family of five.

Forever changed by Alex’s love and joy for life, the Baizes decided to add two more children to their family; adopting two beautiful girls.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Sylvia and her husband now live in Arizona with five of her six children. Their home is a place where little aching hearts have found a reason to laugh, dance, and heal; where the joy and the messiness of being a family is lived out daily with thankful hearts to the one who caused the tides to bring them together.
