MEMOIR

BY ALEX SCHNEIDER

Alexandra Schneider grew up with a mom who adored her, understood her, and was her best friend. But when she was eight, her parents divorced and then remarried, bringing new parental figures, siblings, and eventually mental illness into her life.

At sixteen, Alex lived through the worst nightmare any of us can imagine: her mother was murdered by her stepfather. Spared and delivered to safety, Alex was left with survivors’ guilt, vast grief, and the crippling effects of trauma.

This harrowing story of survival examines the impact of trauma, the mistakes we can make when grief isolates us from those we love, and the transformative power of love to heal.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Victims of trauma are often silenced and isolated. By sharing her story, she hopes that she can bring hope to the darkest places, and inspire others to use their voices.

Today, Alex Schneider is an author, speaker, and advocate for victims of crime supporting adolescent experiences of trauma, grief, and the journey of finding hope after the unthinkable has happened.

She lives on the West Coast with her husband. When she’s not writing, she spends her time travelling, working with animals, or surrounded by loved ones.
